The Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles are a professional rugby team from Sydney that have been training with Marcelo Rezende, black belt under Carlos Gracie Jr. According to this artlcle on The Manly Daily, the training has improved their wrestling and ground control, and has yielded measurable results.

Rezende is a former Pan American champ, and set up the Gracie Barra in Australia. He’s taught a few other teams including the Sydney Roosters and the Brumbies, also from Australia.

Very cool - I did a blog a while back about the crossover between grappling / MMA and wrestling… I love both. I am doing an article this month on two MMA fighters who do all their conditioning with a professional rugby team

Man that sucks about the eyeball! The linked video in your post is brilliant. I like the guillotine chokes snuck in on those tackles.

I think cross training in athletics is a great way to increase speed and agility. Martial arts has also graced other pro sports like football and baseball…similar to ballet used in pro-sports to build flexibility and body awareness.
