Thai Style Hand Wrapping
March 18, 2008
During a training session with a friend up in San Francisco he showed me the Thai method of hand wrapping. Basically it involves bunching up a length of wrap over your knuckles first, then wrapping around that part. It’s much faster to do and provides thicker knuckle protection. Here’s a video of how to do it from the guys at Daddis Training Centers in Philly. I’m going to start wrapping this way from now on.

i’ve tried wrapping my hands like this and don’t particularly like the way it feels. I use a variation that keeps my palms open but provides decent support around the wrist.
Of course, given that I just tweaked my wrist (sparring with no wraps on), I might give this a try again to gset some more support.

Mike, do you have any video or tutorials on the variation you use?

I sort of use this wrap method, I messed with it a little bit and ended up with my own style. I’m assuming this is what Mike did. I just use less wrap on my knuckles and more on my palm and wrists.
