UFC 67 More Sucky Than Not
Another UFC come and gone, and I must say that this particular one was pretty sucky. Not entirely sucky, but more sucky than not. And considering that it was Crocop and Rampage’s UFC debuts, it should have been much more exciting.
Eddie “The Manic Hispanic” Sanchez… now that is a dude I feel bad for. 2nd UFC fight, and they put you up against one of the most feared fighter in MMA’s history. Maybe it sounded like a good idea at first, but you could tell by the look in his eyes that being in that cage at that moment was definitely a bad idea. If he had been wearing the Green Lantern’s power ring Eddie Sanchez would’ve disappeared in a puff of green smoke, reappeared in a hot tub at the Hard Rock with a martini in his hand and a girl in his lap. Anything resembling the will to fight disappeared as soon as Crocop hit Sanchez with his left hand.

Every time I see Crocop step into a fight, I am more convinced that he is probably the scariest dude alive. The best part was after the stoppage, Sanchez cursing at himself for losing as if it was something that was unexpected.
Rampage’s fight wasn’t so great either, but he had some nerves to work out as he explained in the post fight. Despite the less-than-average action in his fight, I still love Rampage. He’s charismatic, shows a natural talent for the sport, and never stops trying to improve his game. Plus he’s funny as hell. Looking forward to seeing more of him in the UFC.
Silva’s fight was good, but what’s with Lutter not making weight? How the hell do you train for a title fight and NOT MAKE WEIGHT??? That to me is astonishing. Did someone force feed him steaks a few days back? Geez. Anyway, complete ownage in the area of expertise that he was hyped for.
The best fight of the evening was Tyson Griffin and Frankie Edgar. Edgar was extremely impressive with the takedown and ground game. It takes a very motivated, very sick individual to let a tight knee bar go for 30 seconds so you can win the fight. Great fight. Personally I think things would’ve gone differently if the ref had penalized Edgar for holding the fence and stopped the fight after the groin strike.
