Royce Gracie vs. Matt Hughes

While part of me wants to believe that Jiu-Jitsu will conquer all, there’s another more pragmatic side that believes that Hughes will overpower Royce. I visualize hundreds of red state fans pulling their dicks out of their sisters and firing their shotguns into the air. Yeah! Fuck that brown kid up!

I have a lot of respect for Hughes as a fighter. He is relentless and a total powerhouse. But after seeing his personality come out in The Ultimate Fighter, I now realize that he’s not just a champion… but he’s also an asshole. There wasn’t anything more satisfying than to see BJ Penn choke him out.
Royce likes to write his name on his gi to avoid any confusion.
Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t love Royce either. I think he’s in over his head—his head that is many many times the size that it should be—as seems to be the Gracie tradition. After Sakuraba beat Royler, the only thing that Royler could say was that Sakuraba is the Japanese equivalent of the Gracies. Come on. That’s like saying, “hey you kicked my ass, so you must be (almost) as good as me”. Give me a fucking break. Get over yourselves.

Royce really should just retire. He’s a pioneer, and he’s sitting pretty on the Gracie JJ empire they’ve built. I’d take respect and dignity over a million bucks. Especially when you probably already have a million bucks. Anyway, that’s moot cuz Royce is doing it anyway.
My ideal fight outcome is that a suplex goes wrong and they both break their necks simultaneously. Hmm.. wonder if the bookie would take something like that…

Royce may not have a million bucks anymore but he did “…go to Deeese-kneee-lant” after winning the first UFC, so hey, that’s something!

I did not purchase the last 3 UFC, due to finacial priorities and at $39.95 per crack, I am more selective. However, I will purchase this fight, and watch it with curiosity. Royce is the one like many others to start my interest in BJJ. I met Royce in 94 at his school, and he was very stoic,distant, and cold (maybe he was getting pysched up for his fight). Now after being a father, a rich man, and realizing he cannot defeat all fighters, and feeling comfortable to that “finding of ones self”, he has become a freindly and cordial person, unlike Matt Hughes. Or is it their on air persona. I ran into Ken Shamrock at a HS football game 2 years ago ( he is one of many assistant coaches) and he looked smaller in real life, and seemed shy, maybe like Hughes, its all a persona that goes on when the light of the camera reflects the NHB fighters ? I predict if Royce does lose, he will not look bad in his loss. Royce manages a way of never getting destroyed, or looking bad. For he is Royce Gracie, legend, and foundation of the UFC !

Royce Gracie adds a element of “class” to NHB. With idiot thugs like “tap out” sportswear, or whatever name they use running around dropping f-bombs on their web-site, and in person with painted faces and a ego as big as their girlsfriends “tramp stamp” cliche tattos above their ass, it is refreshing ( is that a over used cliche). Royce is JAzz among bluegrass music, he is the wind of hope, that NHB does not regulate itself to that of NASCAR or wrestling, which is the combination of idiots and false bravado ! Live on Royce. Its the uneducated redneck and the red white and blue, versus the classy warrior that represents those who listen to Miles Davis and calls a woman a lady, no matter who they are. Yet, like Royce the violence is in us, and we can release it without the bravodo, which adds fire power to relinquish all the elements of NASCAR out of the UFC !

Plain and simple royce will win. Matt’s bjj is just too weak, royce will have all kinds of set ups and submissions. it is kind of like playing a video game on medium and then turning it to hard. Matt has never fought a fighter as techniqual and smart as royce is. On the other hand Royce has fouht a couple of fighters that are better then matt and stronger, and matt does tend to fight stupid sometimes . Matt will be put in a submission and probably will never see it coming.
P.S. Matt’s biggest weakness is bjj. he has lost three times to a ordinary black belt, and royce is a 8th d black belt, he is also a black belt in karate and fights in k1. If he added solid stand up to his game, WOW! look the fuck out. That brown boy will shock and prove the world wrong one more time.

royce gracie is the best fighter to ever step foot in the octagon although i thought ken(shamrock) beat him in the second fight ive never seen a fighter with his skillz and he has brought more to the sport than anybody! PERIOD!!!!!
